Delhi Stray Dogs: Can’t feed street dogs anywhere anymore! Learn 5 strict orders of the Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has amended earlier orders after a long debate on the pedestrians of Delhi and NCR. According to the new verdict, sterile and vaccinated dogs can be released in their old areas again. However, this exemption will not apply to dogs who are infected or aggressive in rabies.

Earlier on August 11, the Supreme Court had ordered that all Delhi-NCR dogs should be evacuated to shelters and they cannot be thrown on the streets even after sterilization. It was even warned that there would be a contempt case if anyone obstructed. But many eminent people, starting from animal lovers, social workers, protested strongly against this verdict. The court changed its position after strong reactions across the country.

In the new verdict, the court also said that if the dogs (Delhi Stray Dogs) are given food on the road, the place must be kept clean. It has been ordered to be aware that the remaining food or dirt does not pollute the environment. Animal rights activists and leaders welcomed the verdict.

BJP MP Menka Gandhi called it a “scientific and humane” decision. However, he demanded clarifying the definition of aggressive dogs. On the other hand, the common people also think that this decision has kept the public health aspect safe as well as justice for the dogs (Delhi Stray Dogs).
