Kolkata: Several projects have been launched for common people and students by the Government of West Bengal. Similarly, the West Bengal government is once again taking the Sabuoj Sathi Prakalpa 2025 project to a new level. Now in Phase XI, preparations for the list of class IX students and distribution of bicycles have started. 10 years ago today, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched this project in 2015.
Through this project (Sabooj Sathi Prakalpa 2025) it was started with the aim of making easy movement of village and city schoolchildren, so that there is no problem in studies. About 25 lakh bicycles were distributed in the first year of the project launch. In the next phase, another 15 lakh bicycles were given. That is, in the first two stages, a total of 40 lakh students got bicycles.
After that, about 25 lakh more bicycles have been collected and distributed in the third phase. As a result, many students in different parts of the state have benefited from going to school every day. The main objective of the project is not only to provide bicycles, but also to reduce student survival and dropout rates in schools.
Phase XI started operations in June 2025. This time the names of ninth grade students are being listed through the education platform of Bengal. The information verification process will be completed between 13 and 16 June as per the scheduled time. After the verification, the new bicycle will reach the hands of the concerned students.
The government has taken new steps to maintain this administrative transparency. A NIC-backed online portal has been launched by the government. Where all the information will be stored in one place. In addition to this, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been created, so that each step is completed according to the specific rules.
As a result, there is no risk of any complications or delay in the implementation of the project. Educationists feel that this project is particularly effective for students of rural and underprivileged families. If the problem of transportation is removed, their school attendance will increase, and the interest in continuing their studies will also increase.
